This book contains eleven stories about efforts by oil palm growers and palm oil millers to pursue sustainability in Malaysia. Collectively, they cover the broad areas underpinning sustainability governance, environmental protection and social and economic development.
The practices showcased are not necessarily ‘best practices’ – although many are. Several are widespread in the industry, yet others are adaptations by a single organisation. Nonetheless, the practices are all ‘works in progress’ because they must constantly adapt to the ever-evolving challenges posed by the pursuit of sustainability.
